Vernon Franklin Wright, age 91, passed away on Saturday January 29, 2022 in Serenity Hospice & Home, Oregon, IL. He was born on April 26, 1930 in Clinton, IA, the son of William F. and Beeda (Swafford) Wright. Vernon married Evelyn T. North on September 26, 1948 in Clinton, IA. They were married for 46 years before Evelyn’s passing in 1994. Vernon then married Frances Black July 22, 1995. They were married for 18 years until her passing in 2013.
Vernon served in the United States National Guard from 1949 to 1952, being honorably discharged. He was a Corporal in the Service Battery during the Korean War era, a part of the 556 Artillery Battery in Clinton, IA.
He was a member of the Pine Creek Independent Church where he was the Head Elder and Song Leader for 50 plus years.
Vernon had an infectious smile and laugh, always welcoming those he met.
Vernon is survived by his five sons: William F (Victoria) of Dixon; Jack (Late/Patsy) of Manlius; Kevin D (Denise) of Mt. Morris; Orville of Dixon; and Matthew L (Sue) of Woodward, IA; four daughters: Beeda (Late/Fred) Hatfield of Alicia, AR; Miriam (Daniel) Hunter of Rockford; Deborah (Rhojean) Llanas of Ada, OH; one sister: Doris Dohse of Clinto, IA; 25 grandchildren; 50 great grandchildren; and 10 great great grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents; first wife Evelyn; second wife Frances; one infant son: Timothy Wright; and one daughter: Janet (Wright) Jasper.
Funeral services will be held on Friday February 4, 2022 at 10:30 A.M. in Pine Creek Independent Church, with Pastor Ryan Jasper officiating. Burial will be held in Oakwood Cemetery, Mt. Morris, IL. Visitation will be held on Thursday February 3, 2022 from 5:30 P.M. until 7:30 P.M. in Finch Funeral Home, 405 East Hitt, Mt. Morris, IL.
