Uldine Baker Obituary

Uldine Rosamond Greene Baker, 87, Mt. Morris, passed away on Tuesday, Dec. 28, 2021 at Edward Hospital in Naperville, IL after a short illness. She was born in Freeport, IL on April 10, 1934, the daughter of Paul and Olive Greene. She went to Manchester College in Indiana and married Harold Victor Baker on August 14, 1954.

Uldine cleaned turkeys for several years for holiday celebrations, and also farmed with Harold and the rest of the family until they retired in the mid 90s. She also worked in housekeeping at Pinecrest Manor and as an operator at the phone office in Oregon, IL.

She was an avid traveler, and she enjoyed eating out, going to movies, and attending plays. She was a voracious reader and loved all kinds of books. She also was a talented artist, who enjoyed oil painting and drawing. She loved to go roller skating, and met her husband Harold at the White Pines Roller Rink. Most of all, she enjoyed being with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and was a constant fixture at their games, plays, concerts, and just hanging out.

Uldine is survived by her son, Bill (Susie) Baker, her daughter Barbara (Tim) Krehl, grandchildren Brandon Burr, Shannon (Luke) Cochran, great-granddaughters Marceline and Fiona Cochran, and other grandchildren Marie (Kline) Miller, Renee Baker, Cheyenne Krehl and Alex Krehl.

She was preceded in death by her husband Harold, daughter Linda Burr, and son-in-law Melvin Burr.

There is a celebration of life being planned for June or July 2022.
