Susan Murray Heeg

On Saturday, May 15th 2021, Susan Murray Heeg, mother of two daughters, sister, and friend to many, passed away at the age of 60. Susan was born on May 3rd, 1961 to William and Frances (Broyles) Murray in Quincy, Illinois. Susan graduated with a bachelor's degree in sociology from Northern Illinois University in 1990. Susan was a talented artist. She especially loved utilizing the mediums of colored pencils and markers, but also branched out into the realm of digital art creation. She was an avid reader of any book she could find, frequently engulfed in a story until completion through the night. Susan brought joy to everyone around her through her limitless empathy and cheerful nature. She is remembered as soft-spoken but firm in her beliefs that everyone should be treated kindly and fairly. She was a gentle and caring soul who always tried to make those around her feel comfortable and loved. Susan was preceded in death by her father, William, and her mother, Frances. She is survived by her two daughters Luciann and Emilia, her brothers Mark and Jon, and several cousins, nieces, and nephews. A funeral service will be held in Mt. Morris, Illinois, on Saturday, June 5th, 2021 at Disciples United Methodist Church on Maple Ave at 3 pm. There will be a short drive-through visitation from 2:30-3:00 pm before the service at the same location. A post-service gathering will be held at Grandma Fran’s old home on N Hannah Ave, near Zickuhr park.
