Sherry Kay was born in Corning, AR on March 23,1949 to Wilburn and Ethel Chappell. Kay, who loved to be called “Nana” by her grandchildren, departed her loving family on January 17, 2022. Kay was married to the love of her life Jerry Lester on August 17th, 1967 in Corning, AR.

Preceded by Husband Jerry Lester, Parents Wilburn and Ethel Chappell, Grandparents William and Julia Dobbins, brother and sister in-laws: Melvin Byes, Earl Marr, Walter and Jesse Scott, Bill and Pat Byes, Lee Lester, Bo Hubbard and James and Carol Lester

Kay was mother to Dawn Reints (Keith), Yvonnie Smits and Julie Howard (Brian). She raised her children with love and devotion in Stillman Valley, IL with her husband Jerry Lester. Kay was primarily homemaker who loved tending her family.  Her hobbies included gardening, fishing, hunting, crafting and traveling. She was a girl scout leader for many years.

She is survived by her grandchildren Jerica Howlett, Jesse Smits (Teea), Michael Crawford, Samantha Taylor (Billy), Tiffany Smits, Steven Howard and great-grandchildren Riley Miller, Shelby Howlett, Olivia Taylor, Lucy Smits and Emily McGuire

Aside from the children and Grandchildren she doted on, Kay is survived by her brother Jerry Chappell (Pauline), Brother and Sister in-law’s Marylyn Marr, Juanita Byes, Peggy Lester, Dee and Joann Lester, Yulanda Hubbard and many nieces and nephews

A celebration of life service will be held at Finch Funeral Home, 405 E Hitt St, Mt Morris, IL 61054 on February 12th with visitation at 2:00 pm, followed by service at 3:00 pm.   There will be food and fellowship at 4:00 at the Moose Lodge 101 Moose Dr., Mt Morris, IL 61054
