Obituary
Mt. Morris, IL, Richard M. “Dick” Short, age 80, passed away on Tuesday February 22, 2022 in his home with his family by his side. He was born on March 25, 1941 in Ryan, IA the son of Thomas P. & Mary G. (Maruna) Short. Dick graduated from Lisbon Consolidated Schools in 1959, and he attended University of Iowa. He served in the United States Army during Vietnam.
Dick served as President of the Mt. Morris Savings & Loan for 26 years retiring on July 20, 1993. He was a life member of the NRA, Illinois State Rifle Association, and the Tri-County Gun Club.
Dick is survived by his children: Philip Thomas (Melissa) Short, Mt. Morris, IL and Nicole Marie (Randy Caronna) Short, Norco, LA; grandchildren: Erin, Lily, and Keil Groves, Daltan and Skylar Short; great grandchildren: Alicia Blake, Journey Groves, Christian Rollette, Brock Groves, and Dakotah Groves.
He is preceded in death by his Parents, great grandchild: Gabriel Groves; 6 brothers: Arthur, Thomas, Vincent, Robert, Bernard, and Edward; and 5 sisters: Anna Pirnat, Marie Feuss, Dorothy Woodford, Bernice Hanson, and Leona Van Drasek.
A celebration of life will be held on July 10, 2022 at 12:00 P.M. at 6762 West Lowell Park Road, Mt. Morris, IL. Burial will be held in Oakwood Cemetery, Mt. Morris, IL at a later date.
