Obituary

Linda “Carr” Greenhow 1954-2022

Linda Doreen “Carr” Greenhow, 68, of Byron, IL, passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 18, 2022, at Swedish American Hospital in Rockford, IL, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on September 26, 1954, in Rochelle, IL, the daughter of Richard & Patricia (Jones) Carr. She was raised in Oregon, IL, and graduated from Oregon High School in 1973. She then moved to Loves Park, IL, with her former husband, where they raised their daughters Jessica and Jennifer. She married her loving husband, Cliff, in 1995. In 1999 they both retired, took off in their tiny camper, and traveled the country. They soon traded in the tiny camper for a beautiful fifth wheel. In 2001 she had her first heart attack, and they reluctantly had to give up traveling. They were so happy to find their dream home in Byron, IL, which was just a foundation and frame that had been empty for many years. They set up camp in the driveway, and Cliff turned that dilapidated old house into their forever home. She loved her home so much, and you could usually find her sitting in her kitchen playing solitaire on her Ipad with a smile on her face. She loved cooking and baking for her family anytime she could. She absolutely loved spoiling her grandchildren and having them there for many sleepovers. In 2012 our mom was given the wonderful gift of a heart transplant that gave us another 10.5 years with her. Over the years, she battled several health issues, too many hospital stays and surgeries even to count, and not once did our warrior complain. Her doctors described her as a “medical miracle.” She fought so hard until her last breath, and we are beyond proud of her strength through every battle she faced. We have peace knowing she is with her loved ones who have already passed and our Heavenly Father for eternity. She will be greatly missed by her daughter Jessica (Tom) Fraser and their children Gavin, Carly, Brody, Taylor, and great-grandson Aurelio; Daughter Jennifer (Brandon) Watts and their children, Maia, Camden, Danae, Chiron, Persephone, Damien, Heleana, and Dino. Sister Lori (Tim) Benesh, brothers Steve, Stan & Doug Carr. Many loving nieces and nephews.Stepchildren, Butch (Jackie) Greenhow, Ron (Teresa) Greenhow, Beth (Mark) Bostrom, and many step grand & great-grandchildren. Ex-husband and father of her children Greg Jensen and his wife, Teresa. She was predeceased by her loving husband, Clifford “Cliff” Greenhow, her parents, and her sister Vicki Young. A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, January 8, 2023, at 1:00 p.m. at Oregon VFW Post 8739 1310 W. Washington St., Oregon, IL. Her final resting place will be in Daysville Cemetery, Oregon, IL. Internment of her remains will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made for the family. Special thank you to all of her doctors at Aurora, St. Lukes's hospital in Milwaukee, WI, especially her nurse Kristen Dwyer, Davita Dialysis, Swedish American Hospital Critical Care Unit, and nurse Kayla who made her last day so comfortable and special for our family.
