James Leroy McCoy

Oregon, IL. James (Jim) Leroy McCoy, age 82 passed away on June 11, 2022. 

Jim was born on September 6, 1939 in Boone, IA. The son of Minnie and James E McCoy. 

Jim graduated from Melrose, IA High School in 1957.

He married June Williams on July 6, 1961 in St. Charles, IL. 

He and June moved to Oregon, IL in the early 1960s. 

Jim worked in sales, both furniture and cars. He was also a maintenance man for Dayton Superior in Oregon. He enjoyed fixing things both at work and at home. 

Jim enjoyed watching his sons play sports. He was a member of the Hawk Booster Club during the 1980s. He was proud of his children and grandchildren. Jim was always interested in what the family was doing. He was known for giving good advice and having a ‘cup half full’ mentality. He and June loved traveling. 

Jim is survived by his wife, June McCoy, sons James D (Kimrea) McCoy, Midland MI, Joseph (Dragana) McCoy, Goshen, KY, Jason (Chris) McCoy, MIlwaukee, WI, Maureen (wife of late Jeff) McCoy, Elmhurst, IL and Dean McCoy, Madrid, IA (brother) and Carolyn Doughlas, Madrid, IA (sister)

Grandchildren, Erin (Brian) Turner, Emmett, Christopher, Connor, Juliana, Nathan, Jonathan, Benjamin, Samuel McCoy. Step grandchildren, Marea (Rodney) Trotter, Forrest (Jackie) Jacobs, Hunter (Tara) Jacobs, Ashlyn Hill and 3 great grandchildren and 5 Step-great grandchildren. 

He was preceded in death by both parents, 8 brothers and sisters and son Jeffery L.

A celebration of life will be held at the Mt. Morris Moose Lodge, 101 Moose Drive, Mt Morris IL, on June 23rd 1:00 PM until 3:30 PM
