Carolyn June Scharfenberg

  Sterling, IL, Carolyn June Hilliard Scharfenberg, age 75, passed away in her home in Sterling, IL on February 20, 2023 with her family by her side.  Carolyn was born on November 26, 1947 in Freeport, IL; the daughter of Dwight & Rose (Christian) Hilliard.  She was raised in Leaf River, IL and graduated from Leaf River High School class of 1965.  Carolyn also lived in Rockford, Mt. Morris before moving to Sterling in 1986. 

  Carolyn married Michael Scharfenberg on December 29, 1987 in Morrison, IL. 

  Her hobbies were reading, needlework, gardening, canning, cooking, baking, in her younger years, bowling and roller skating, but most of all she loved spending time with her grandchildren.

  Carolyn is survived by her husband: Michael Scharfenberg, Sterling, IL; sons: Stephen (Amy) Feary, Charles Feary, Michael (Kelly) Feary, and Thomas (Kim) Feary; grandchildren: Damian Feary, Andrew (Jessica) Feary, Nicholas Feary, Andrea Feary, Rowan Riney, Tamzie Feary, and Nathan Feary; great grandchildren: Harlan Feary, Luna Feary, and Lydia Feary.

  She is preceded in death by her parents; sisters: Sharon and Connie; brother: Orval; and mother in law: Erma.

  Funeral services will be held on Saturday February 25, 2023 at 11:30 A.M. in Finch Funeral Home, 405 East Hitt, Mt. Morris, IL; with Pastor Brian Vickers officiating.  Burial will be held in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Mt. Morris, IL.  Visitation will be held on Saturday February 25, 2023 from 10:30 A.M. until service time in Finch Funeral Home.
