Alene D Gallup

Mt. Morris, IL, Alene D. Gallup, age 90, passed away on Thursday, November 4, 2021 in Pinecrest Manor Nursing Home, Mt. Morris, Illinois.  Alene was born on April 1, 1931 in rural Leaf River, Illinois, the daughter of Elmer and Augusta (Suck) Borneman.  She graduated from Leaf River High School in 1949 and Manchester College (North Manchester, Indiana) in 1953.  In 1956, Alene married Donald Gallup, a high school classmate, in Mt. Morris, Illinois.  She was the Boone County Home Adviser for several years before becoming a homemaker and later, a World Book representative.  Alene was a life-long member of the Mt. Morris Church of the Brethren.  She volunteered with Children’s Disaster Services, tended the church perennial garden and was a blood donor.  Alene is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Debra and Jon Nekritz, Frankfort, Illinois; grandchildren Erin Nekritz (Francois Bonnay), Vienna, Austria and Kyle Nekritz, New York, New York and several nieces and nephews.  She is predeceased by her husband, Donald; son, Steven Gallup; brother, Calvin Borneman and parents.  Private graveside service will be held on Monday, November 8, 2021 in Egan Cemetery, Leaf River, Illinois with Rev. Rodney Caldwell officiating.  Memorial donations to Brethren Disaster Ministries (online or by check to 1451 Dundee Ave., Elgin, IL 60120, with “Alene Gallup” in memo line).
