Winthrop, MN, Wilma DePuy, age 82, formerly of Mt. Morris, IL, died Wednesday September 4, 2013 in the Good Samaritan Care Center, Winthrop, MN. Wilma was born February 4, 1931 in Clifton, KS the daughter of John Southwell & Frances (Brooks) Wood Jr. She graduated from high school in Clifton, KS and then continued her education at Kansas State University in Manhattan, KS and Bradley University in Peoria, IL. Wilma married Philip Louis DePuy, D.M.V. at the Kansas State University Chapel on August 5, 1951. The couple moved to Peoria, IL where Philip worked as an employee for a Veterinary practice until purchasing a veterinary practice and moving to Wenona, IL. Wilma was a homemaker, mother, and veterinary assistant; taking calls from clients, scheduling, bookkeeping, mixing medicines, and assisting in surgical procedures out of the family home/ veterinary office. Wilma was active in church and community activities where she was instrumental in establishing Wenona's first Kindergarten program through the PTA. She was active in the Eastern Star in Mt. Morris; and in the community theater productions in Mt. Morris and Ogle County, IL. Wilma and Philip loved to travel and visited all 50 states during their vacations. Following Philip's death, Wilma's health prompted her to move to Fairfax, MN. She resided in assisted living and nursing home facilities in Fairfax, Lafayette, and Winthrop, MN until her death. Wilma is survived by sons: John William (Roberta) DePuy, Curtis Wood (Janet) DePuy, and Robert Louis (Susan) DePuy. Daughter: Sara Jane (Ed) Fazio. Grandchildren: Ruth Ann (Jon) Oesterman, Sarah Elizabeth DePuy, Elizabeth Ann (Daniel) Zustiak, Andrew Philip DePuy, John Curtis DePuy, Rebecca (Derek) Clark, Rachel (Kevin) Perrine, Amy Fazio, Jason Fazio. Great-Grandchildren: Sophia Zustiak, Evelyn Zustiak, Grace Clark, Marc Perrine, and one expected in March 2014. Brothers: James Wood, William Wood and Sister: Mary Jean Willard. Wilma was preceded in death by her parents, Husband: Philip, Son: Andrew George DePuy; Great-Grandchildren: Hattie and Emerson Zustiak, and Brother: John Southwell Wood III, Daughter-in-Law: Cynthia DePuy. Funeral services will be Tuesday September 10, 2013 in Disciples United Methodist Church, Mt. Morris, IL at 11:00 A.M. with Rev. Dwight Stewart officiating. Burial will be in Wenona City Cemetery, Wenona, IL. Visitation will be Tuesday September 10, 2013 from 10:00 till service time in Disciples United Methodist Church.
