Wayne Bradley Davis

We are sad to announce that Wayne (Brad) Davis went to be with the Lord on June 7, 2022. Brad was born in Freeport, IL on October 31, 1938 to Oliver and Vera (Schamburger) Davis. Brad grew up in Mt. Carroll, IL and graduated from Mt. Carroll High School in 1956. Brad attended Northern Illinois State College (Northern Illinois University) for one year studying meteorololgy. Brad served in the United States Army for three years as a radio TT operator and received the Marksman (Rifle) Good Conduct Medal. Brad worked for the A&P grocery stores in Mt. Caroll and Mt. Morris for more than a combined 13 years. He started Brad's IGA Foods in 1975 serving residents of Mt. Morris and the surrounding area for over 25 years. Brad was very active in the Evangelical Free Church in Mt. Morris (EFCMM) and became a member in 1967. He served as a Sunday school teacher, choir director, deacon and AWANA leader. Brad is survived by his wife of 60 years LaVerne (Wagner) Davis; three sons Doug, Dan, Dave and one daughter DeAnna Hickman; five grandchildren: Brandon, Danielle, Aubrey, Oliver and Madeline and one great-grandchild Wesley. Visitation will be on Monday June 13, 2022 at 10:00 am and the funeral at 11:00 am all at the EFCMM with a luncheon to follow. In lieu of flowers, a contribution for a memorial to the EFCMM in memory of Brad Davis would be greatly appreciated.
