Mt. Morris, IL, Virginia Angle Hough, age 91, passed away on March 25, 2022 at Pinecrest Manor, Mt. Morris, IL.

Ginny was born on August 18, 1930, on the family farm in Buckeye Township, Cedarville, IL, the daughter of Ralph and Velma (Lowe) Angle.

She married Robert “Bob” Hough Jr. in Cedarville on April 6, 1951, at the Cedarville Methodist Church. Ginny and Bob met through the church at a Methodist Youth Fellowship (MYF) event.

Ginny attended school at Mt. Hope, the one room school on the farm, for which her grandfather donated the land.

She graduated from Dakota High School Class of 1948, graduated from Deaconess in Freeport as a Registered Nurse. She worked as a nurse at Cook County Hospital Chicago, Deaconess Hospital Freeport, for Dr. Boulder in Forreston, and Pinecrest Manor in Mt. Morris and was one of the first employees for Ogle County Hospice in Oregon. She also helped her husband in the family business Hough Hardware Co.

Ginny was a member of St. James Lutheran Church, rural Forreston. She was a 4H leader for the Jolly Jane’s Club, was a Cub Scout Leader and was a member of Ogle County Home Extension.

She was an accomplished seamstress and quilter and was a proud member of the West Branch Ladies Aide Society. She always cooked and baked as if the threshers were coming. Her ham balls and parker house rolls were legendary.

She truly was “Granny 1” which she proudly displayed on her licenses plates for nearly 50 years.

Ginny is survived by her son, Gerry Hough, of Mt. Morris; daughter, Jane (Wayne) Atteberry, Belvidere; grandchildren, Chris (Jason) McCoy, Milwaukee, WI, Rob (Lynnette) Hough IV, Mt. Morris, Rick Hough, Mt. Morris, Joselyn Hough, Charlotte, North Carolina, MacKenna (Eric) Winterton, Glen Ellyn, Michael (Allison) Atteberry, Greenfield, Wisconsin. and Geoff  Atteberry, Morton; six great grandchildren, Benjamin McCoy and Samuel McCoy, Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Rebecca Hough and RG Hough V, Mt. Morris, Peyton Boyd, Mt. Morris and Corbin Atteberry of Morton, IL.

Ginny was preceded in death by her parents; husband; two sisters; three brothers; infant daughter, Susan Kay; son, Timothy John; daughter-in-law, Janice.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, March 30, 2022 at 10:30am at Finch Funeral Home with Rev. Josh Ehrler officiating. Burial Oakwood Cemetery, Mt. Morris, IL. Visitation will be Tuesday, March 29, 2022 from 5:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. in Finch Funeral Home, 405 East Hitt, Mt. Morris, IL. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Serenity Hospice and Home of Oregon, Mt. Morris Fire Department, or Pinecrest Good Samaritan Fund. Arrangements were entrusted to Finch Funeral Home 405 E. Hitt St. Mt. Morris, IL 61054
