Sherwood N Stouffer

Mt. Morris, IL, Sherwood N. Stouffer "Woody," age 86, died Tuesday December 23, 2014 in Pinecrest Manor Nursing Home, Mt. Morris, IL surrounded by his family after putting up a strong fight of numerous medical battles for 5 years. Sherwood was born November 8, 1928 in the Mt. Morris family home on Hitt Street the son of William Boyd & Olive Pearl (Butterbaugh) Stouffer. Sherwood resided in Mt. Morris all his life, making a lot of friends and was known to all as "Woody." He graduated from Mt. morris High School class of 1946, after high school he attended Iowa State University in Ames, IA. Woody married Margie Kirkham on June 4th1950 in Ashton, IL, and they just recently celebrated 64 wonderful years together. In 1944 Woody received 2nd place in Chicago's Junior Market Lamb Show Pen of Five Lamb Division, and in 1945 he received 1stplace in Chicago's Junior Market Lamb Show Pen of Three lamb division. He enjoyed fishing, bowling, camping, and softball. Woody was a member of the Jaycees and Kiwanis for many years. He worked at the Stouffer Poultry Hatchery and eventually retired from Kelly Springfield Tire Company. Sherwood is survived by his wife: Margie Stouffer, Mt. Morris, IL; Son: Brian (Wanda) Stouffer, Rock Springs, WY; Daughter: Gayle (Larry) Madsen, Wellsville, MO; 6 Grandchildren, and 14 Great Grandchildren; Sister: Virginia Nelson, Mt. Morris, IL, and many Nieces and Nephews. A celebration of Life will be held on Monday December 29, 2014 at 12:00 P.M. in Trinity Lutheran Church, Mt. Morris, IL with Rev. Dr. Brenda Buckwell officiating followed by a luncheon. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery, Mt. Morris, IL, on Monday December 29, 2014 at 11:00 A.M. Visitation will be held on Sunday December 28, 2014 from 5:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. in Finch Funeral Home, 405 East Hitt, Mt. Morris, IL. Memorials to Trinity Lutheran Church and/or Pinecrest Manor Nursing Home.
