Ruth L. Stauffer – 100 of Mount Morris passed away at her home December 14, 2025. Ruth was born July 29, 1925 in Dixon the oldest daughter of Edward C. and Marion E. (Snyder) Zumdahl. A 1943 graduate of Mount Morris High School and a long-time member of Trinity Lutheran Church of Mount Morris. Ruth married Clarence E. Stauffer December 27, 1947 in Mount Morris. Ruth’s family was her life’s priority along with the company of many good friends.
Left to cherish her memory are her children Karen (Mike) Dickinson of Adeline, Ronald Stauffer of Mount Morris and Nancy (Larry) Nelson of Mount Morris. Granddaughters Emily (Nathan) Clements of Deep River, CT; Erica (Randy) Bocker of Leaf River; and Elizabeth (Kevin) Tober of Mount Morris. Great Grandchildren: Levi, Adalyn and Kasen Bocker; Jonathan Clements and Baby Boy Tober due April, 2026. Nieces Sheryll Potts (Scott) Moffat and Barbara Scholl (Thomas) Mellinger; nephews Edward (Cindy) Long and Bryan (Suzette) Long and families.
Preceding Ruth in death were her parents, husband, sisters Margaret (Bill) Potts, and Lillian (Warren) Long; sister-in-law Margaret (Arnold) Scholl; nephews Steven and Alan Potts; niece Shelley Potts (Charlie) Mahoney and daughter-in-law, Joyce Stauffer.
Visitation will be at 10 am January 8, 2026 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Mount Morris. Memorial service at 11 a.m. with a luncheon immediately following. Burial will be at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens in Dixon, IL at 2p.m. Memorials to: Trinity Lutheran Church, Mount Morris.
