Mount Morris, IL - Ruth E. Park, 88, died Sunday, Sept. 6, in Pinecrest Manor in Mount Morris after a short illness. Born July 11, 1921, in Oregon, daughter of Amos J. and Foltina (Ulferts) Ehmen. Married Richard O. Park on Oct. 2, 1947, in St. Paul Lutheran Church in Oregon. She worked in the secretarial and bookkeeping field for more than 45 years, finishing her career as bookkeeper for Bemis Ford-Mercury in Oregon. After her retirement, she worked for several years at the Mount Morris Public Library and had a passion for the work of the Library Foundation. She was an active member of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Mount Morris. Served several terms on the Church Council, member of the Chancel and Altar Society, and Trinity Lutheran Church Women. In her early years she also served as one of the Sunday School teachers. In addition to her ministry at Trinity, she also was active in Rock River Girl Scouts, Northern Illinois Toastmistress Club, American Field Service, American Cancer Society, and the Mount Morris Current Events Club. She liked nothing better than an afternoon or evening of bridge with her friends. Survived by children, Paul (Rosalie) Park of Morton and Claudia (Joel) Park Guenther of Littleton, Colo. Predeceased by parents; husband on Aug. 26, 1986; brother, Henry J. Ehmen; and sisters, Gertrude Wells, and Elizabeth Dailey. Memorial service at 11 a.m. Friday, Sept. 11, in Trinity Lutheran Church in Mount Morris, with visitation beginning at 9 a.m. in the Church Chapel. Pastors Steven Erickson and Frank Lay will officiate. Cremation rites have been accorded. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Pinecrest Community Foundation, 414 S. Wesley Ave., Mount Morris, IL 61054. Arrangements by Finch Funeral Home, Mount Morris.
