Ruth Irene Balluff

Ruth Irene Balluff, 101, a long-time resident of Mt. Morris, died July 2, 2015 at Serenity Hospice and Home, Oregon, Illinois. Ruth was born on April 14, 1914, the daughter of ‘Bert' Lewis Albert Davis and Effie Mae (Marteney) Davis. She married ‘Bud' Carl Edward Balluff on October 14, 1933 in the family home in Pinecreek Township, Illinois. Ruth worked for over 30 years at McGregor's Subscription Agency as the head of the foreign publisher's service. She was preceded in death by her husband, father, mother, and sister, Marie Davis. Ruth's passion for life, learning, and laughter was contagious and enjoyed by all who knew her. She loved summers at Lake Wisconsin, winters in Florida, traveling, clubs and activities with friends, quilting, reading, and giving educational programs. Her generosity helped many students attend college, supported learning and reading, care of the aged and those who are ill, and spiritual growth of youth. Ruth is survived by her loving family and their extended families, cousin Joyce Davis of Oregon, Il; nieces Pat Burbank of N. Kingstown, RI; Gayl Poley of Providence, RI, and Diane Warran of N. Highlands, CA; and nephews Wayne Schelling of Mt. Morris, IL; Kim Poley of St. Louis, MO; David Ward of Stockton, CA; Brian Schelling of Rochester, MN; and Mike Balluff of Owensville, MO. Memorial gifts may be made to Mt. Morris Public Library or Lutheran Outdoor Ministry Center. There will be a private burial service. The memorial service will be held on Wednesday July 8 at 2 PM at Trinity Lutheran Church, Mt. Morris. Finch Funeral Home assisting family with the services.
