Ruby E Van Brocklin

Leaf River, IL, Ruby E. Van Brocklin, age 99, died Saturday August 29, 2015 in Pinecrest Manor Nursing Home. Ruby was born March 31, 1916 in Winnebago County, IL the daughter of Amos & Maude (Knodle) Rowland. She attended Sheldon School and then Winnebago High School. Ruby spent time in Chicago working for Mars Candy Company. Ruby married Leo Van Brocklin on June 27, 1959 in River Grove, IL; and he preceded her in death on December 17, 1997. She returned to Leaf River after she married Leo where she became a farmer's wife. She is a member of the Evangelical Free Church, Mt. Morris, IL; Awana leader; Sunday school teacher, and helped with Vacation Bible School, member of the Merry Martha Club for 55 years, she enjoyed scrabble, and her Bible studies. Ruby is survived by her Daughter: Lorna Van Brocklin, Mt. Morris, IL; Nieces: Delores Schrader, Johnstown, PA, Judith Russo, Elkhart, IN, and Barbara Harris, Pecatonica, IL. Ruby is preceded in death by her parents: husband: Leo; brother: Clarence (Lucille) Rowland; 3 sisters: Erma (Alvin) Denekas, Hazel Rowland, and Ethel Rowland; and niece: Linda Rowland. Funeral services will be Friday September 4, 2015, at 11:00 A.M. in The Evangelical Free Church, Mt. Morris, IL. Burial will be in Lightsville Cemetery, Leaf River, IL. Visitation will be held on Friday September 4, 2015 from 10:00 A.M. until service time in the church. Memorials to the Mt. Morris Evangelical Free Church and/or Pinecrest Manor Nursing Home.
