May Rose Luepkes 89, passed away Saturday, September 24, 2016 at Pinecrest Manor, Mt. Morris, IL., after a long battle with cancer. She was surrounded by her daughters and grandchildren. May was born May 3, 1927 in Byron Township to Arthur & Ada (Haugh) Miller. She was united in marriage to the love of her life, Harry Luepkes on January 25, 1947 in Sycamore, IL. They lived most of their lives in the Ogle County area. He farmed and she was a housewife and mother to their 5 daughters. For a short time she worked at the Oregon Piano Factory and Indian Village Restaurant. Later they moved to Mt. Morris, IL. She enjoyed gardening, canning, crafts, growing African violets, and her soap operas. She especially loved and enjoyed cooking and babysitting for her grandchildren. She also loved her many dogs like "Daisy Mae-"Beau"-"Baby" and lastly "Peaches". May is survived by her daughters: Pauline (Dan) Sadler, Linda (Larry) Krutsinger, Debra Milliman all of Mt. Morris, IL; Shirley (Bill) Hale, Dixon, IL; Diana (Floyd) Cox, Isanti, MN; one brother Kenneth (Alice) Miller, Polo, IL; 2 sisters Betty (Roy) Wells, Mt. Morris, IL., Darlene (Chuck) Barnhart, Polo, IL. 12 grandchildren, 28 great grand children, and 3 great great grandchildren. Preceded in death by her parents, her loving husband Harry, 2 grandsons, 2 son-in-laws, 1 brother and 2 sisters. May will be sadly missed by her family and all those whose lives she touched. The family wishes to extend their gratitude to the staff of Pinecrest Manor who took exceptional care of her while she was there. "What we have once enjoyed and deeply loved we can never lose for all that we love deeply becomes a part of us"---Helen Keller Funeral services will be held Thursday, September 29, 2016 at 12:00 Noon at Finch Funeral Home. Rev. Dave Rogula of Serenity Hospice officiating. Burial will be at Oakwood Cemetery, Mt. Morris, IL. Visitation will be held Thursday, September 29, 2016 10:00 am til service time.
