Ronald Rothermal

RONALD ROTHERMAL, 71 STILLMAN VALLEY - Ronald Rothermal, 71, of Stillman Valley, IL passed away Monday, February 24, 2014, at Serenity Home in Oregon, IL from complications of a stroke. He was born March 10, 1942, in Rockford, IL to Robert and Norma (Wolfe) Rothermal. He married Katherina (Rina) Rattley on April 23, 1977, in Rockford. Ron spent most of his formative years in California. He worked for many years as an x-ray technician and then an ultrasound technician. He loved chatting with people and telling stories of his youth. He is survived by his son, Steven Rothermal of Stillman Valley; twin daughters, Sonya Frederick and Tonya (Daren) Poppen, both of Byron, IL. Grandchildren include Mollie (Ben) Openshaw of Lehi, Utah, Tyler (Amber) Holder of Mt. Morris, IL, Hailey Holder, Kristen Poppen and Jenna Poppen, all of Byron. Great-grandchildren Flynn & Everlie Openshaw and Paisley Holder. Also survived by brother, David (Kathy) Neal of Colorado & Gordon Neal of California. Predeceased by parents, his wife and two brothers. Special thanks to Stillman Valley Fire Department and the staffs at the Swedish American Heart Hospital and Serenity Hospice & Home. A private memorial service will be held at First Baptist Church of Byron with Pastor Randy Snider officiating. Finch Funeral Home is assisting the family with cremation rites.
