Ronald M Kuntzelman

Ronald M. Kuntzelman 90, of Leaf River passed away Thursday, May 2, 2024, at Allure of

Pinecrest in Mt. Morris, IL. He was born December 1, 1933, in Freeport, IL and was the son of

Cletus and Norvella (Eakle) Kuntzelman.

Ronald graduated from Leaf River High School in 1952. He married Doris Jean Zellers on May

24, 1953, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Mt. Morris. He was a machine operator, attended various

trade schools, and a supervisor for Rockford Products Corporation for 43 years.

Ronald served in the United States Army during the Korean war, then a joined the Jerry Wickam

American Legion Post #1148 in Leaf River where he was also a member of the post’s award

winning drill team. He was a volunteer fireman for 53 years at the Leaf River Fire Department

where he held various positions. He was a Cub Master for Cub Pack 335. He was a member of

Trinity Lutheran Church in Mt. Morris.

Survivors include; special companion Leatrice Bicksler of Leaf River, four children; Dennis

(Cathy) Kuntzelman of Leaf River, Randall (Susan) Kuntzelman of Rockford, Rick (Ramona)

Kuntzelman of Davis, IL and Susan (Del) Norup of Farmington, MN. 12 grandchildren and 22

great-grandchildren, brothers; Harold “Butch” (Judy) Kuntzelman of Stillman Valley, Theadore

“Ted” Kuntzelman of Rockford, and James “Jim” (Carol) Kuntzelman of Oregon and sister;

Sandra “Sandy” Lindstrom of Rockford. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Doris,

daughter Lila Jean Tuite, brothers; Cletus Jr., Donald, Alton, Charles, and Robert. Sisters; Betty

Fogle, Dorothy Hartje, and Barbara Klapp.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 7, 2024, from 4:00pm-7:00pm at Finch Funeral Home, 405 East Hitt St, Mt. Morris, IL. Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, May 8, 2024, at 10:30am at Finch Funeral Home with fire chaplain Billy Hardy officiating. Burial will be immediately following the service at North Grove Evangelical Cemetery in Leaf River with full military Honors provided by Leaf

River American Legion and Forreston American Legion.

In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to the Leaf River Fire Protection District and Jerry Wickam American Legion Post #1148.
