Roman Porembski, a resident of Mt. Morris, IL for 65 years, passed away peacefully at Pinecrest Manor in Mt. Morris on Thursday, April 28, 2016. He was 95. Roman was born in Chicago, IL to John and Mary Porembski. He graduated from Wells High School in Chicago in 1940 after spending several years living and attending school in Poland. In 1944 he married Elaine who would be his loving wife for 63 years. Roman was a printer by trade in Chicago, and continued to work in the printing industry for 30 years at Kable Printing Company in Mt. Morris. He enjoyed fishing and spending time at their cabin in northern Wisconsin. He also enjoyed golfing, traveling the United States, and spending time with family and friends. He was especially happy to have lived for more than 65 years in the house that he and Elaine built together. He was a lifelong fan of the Chicago Cubs, Bulls, and Bears. He was a parishioner of St. Mary Church and a third degree member of 1092 Knights of Columbus in Oregon, IL. Roman was preceded in death by his wife, parents, and one sister "June". He was survived by his brother Ed (Trudy) Hollywood, FL, one son Tom (Jean) Huntley, IL, daughters Nancy (Chuck) McGee, Sayner, WI, Sue (Al) Alden, Duluth, GA, Teri (Dan) Bauer, Murfreesboro, TN, 9 grandchildren, and 9 great-grandchildren. A Christian Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 am on Saturday, May 14, 2016 at St. Mary Catholic Church, Oregon, IL, with Rev. Joseph Naill officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary Cemetery, Oregon, IL, with a luncheon to follow at the church. Visitation will precede the mass at 9:00 am at the church. Memorials may be directed to Serenity Hospice & Home, Oregon, IL or St Mary Catholic Church. Finch Funeral Home is assisting the family with services.
