Robert Merriman - 93 11/21/1918 - 1/2/2012

Mt. Morris, IL - Robert Merriman, age 93, passed away in Pinecrest Manor Nursing Home, Mt. Morris, IL on January 2, 2012. He is survived by one sister and several nieces and nephews. Robert was preceded in death by his wife Ada Mae (Evans) of 58 years in 2009. Born in East Liverpool, Ohio, he graduated from Mt. Morris High School class of 1937. He was an apprentice printer until his enlistment into the U.S. Navy from 1942 thru 1945 serving on the USS Tuscaloosa, as a radar and radio operator. Robert was very honored and proud to have served his country. He took pride in being a WWII Veteran and having the opportunity to travel around the world twice. After his honorable discharge, he returned to Mt. Morris to continue his career as a plate printer at Kable Printing. Prior to his retirement he worked for a short time at the Washington D.C. mint. After retirement he and his wife Ada Mae settled in Reno, NV until recently. Robert enjoyed traveling and eating at the finest buffets in Reno while visiting with prominent individuals of all walks of life. Robert has been a member of the Shriners for many years. Per his wishes , no services will be held and cremation will be handled by Finch Funeral Home in Mt. Morris, IL.
