Forreston, IL, Robert E. "Ed" Moore, age 84, died Thursday November 10, 2016 at Pleasant View Nursing Home in Monroe, WI. Ed was born on February 14, 1932 in Smithville, AR the son of Evert & Loma (Smith) Moore. He graduated from Lynn High School, Lynn, AR in 1951. After serving in the US Navy for 4 years, he lived in the Rockford area for several years where he worked for UPS. Ed married Delores "De" Welsh on May 26, 1966 in Cherry Valley, IL and she preceded him in death on October 29, 2013. Ed and De lived most of their married life on Lightsville Road in Leaf River, IL. Later they moved to Forreston, IL where Ed still resided until his recent illness. Ed operated Ed's Auto and retired from Sundstrand Corporation. He was widely known for his immense knowledge of antique autos particularly from the early 1900's. As a young man he enjoyed racing autos. Ed was a photography buff, and many will remember him always with his camera in hand. Ed is survived by daughter: Kim Carlson, O'Fallon, MO; grandson: Jay Johnson, Orangeville, IL; great granddaughter: Anna Belle Johnson; sister: Bonnie Pearson, Rockford, IL; brother in law: Ron (Bev) Johnson, Monroe, WI; sisters in law: Faun (Jack) Hill, Punta Gorda, FL and Donna Welsh, Davenport, IA; many niece, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews. Close friends Guy and Linda Lacombe, Chana, IL, further survive him. Ed is preceded in death by his parents, wife: De; brother: Relton; and infant brother and sister. Funeral service will be held on Saturday November 19, 2016 at 11:00 A.M. in the Leaf River Baptist Church, Leaf River, IL with Rev. Randy Newton officiating. Burial will be in Prairie Repose Cemetery, Amboy, IL. Visitation will be held on Saturday November 19, 2016 from 9:00 A.M. until service time in the Leaf River Baptist Church, Leaf River, IL. Finch Funeral Home, 405 East Hitt, Mt. Morris, IL.
