Richard A Petitt

Dixon, IL, Richard A. Petitt Sr., age 81, Formerly of Mt. Morris, IL, died in Swedish American Hospital, Rockford, IL. Dick was born February 9, 1934 in Belle Plaine, Iowa, the son of John & Nora (Walton) Petitt. He graduated from Belle Plane High School and he received a Bachelor of Science degree from Iowa State. Dick married Jacquelyn Smith on May 15, 1956 in Maywood, IL. Dick served in the U.S. Air Force from 1956 to 1960, where he earned the rank of Captain and flew primarily B47's. He worked in several areas of agricultural sales, and he also owned Mt. Morris Farm Supply from 1962 to 1979. He was the Executive Director of the Illinois Grain and Feed Association. Dick was an avid pilot and he was a founding member of the Ogle County Pilots Association. Dick is survived by his wife: Jackie Petitt, Dixon, IL; Sons: Brad (Cindy) Petitt, Dallas, TX; Richard Petitt Jr., Franklin Grove, IL; Daughter: Kim (Bob) Macklin, Mt. Morris, IL. 3 Grandchildren: Jordan Petitt and Cara Petitt, Cary, NC; and Molly Macklin, Plano, IL. Dick is preceded in death by his Parents, Brother: Gordon Petitt. Memorial Services will be held Thursday September 17, 2015 at 1:00 P.M. in Finch Funeral Home, 405 East Hitt, Mt. Morris, IL with Pastor Bob Clardie officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery, Mt. Morris, IL at a later date. Visitation will be Thursday September 17, 2015 from 12:00 P.M. until service time in the funeral home. In Lieu of flowers memorials to Lost Lake Community Church and Ogle County Pilots Association.
