Richard James Gribbins, 80, passed away at home in Oregon, IL on December 12th.

Richard was born in Dixon, IL on September 10, 1944 the son of James and Madeline (Jane) Gribbins.

Richard graduated from Polo High School (Class of 62) and later earned a degree in Accounting from Rock Valley College. He spent most of his working life as an Executive in Manufacturing based in IL, MI, and TX.

He was an avid duck hunter, fisherman and most recently a buyer of precious metals, know locally as "The Silver Guy." On any given day, you would likely find him perusing an estate sale or appraising a coin collection.

He was also an active participant in the Mensa and Intertel organizations and enjoyed attending their social functions. The monthly "Geezer Lunch" he attended with his Polo classmates was also a highlight for him.

Richard is survived by his former spouses Debbie (Dykema) Gassman and Sharon McKnight, his brother, David (Joanne) Gribbins of Brookfield, WI, children, Neil Gribbins (Sarah) of Belleville, WI and Sarah Giannone (Brian) of Chicago, IL and son-in-law, Reverend Timothy Steckling (Tammi) of Nixa, MO.

Also, eight grandchildren: Hannah (Eskel), Isaiah, Rebekah, Sarah, Elijah, Leah (Steckling), Carmella and Viola (Giannone), along with two nieces, Allison and Kate (Gribbins), and one great granddaughter, Heather (Eskel).

He was preceded in death by his parents and his daughter, Heather Steckling.

In the Spring, a private graveside service will be held at Fairmount Cemetery in Polo, IL followed by a fellowship luncheon. Date and details to follow.
