Rhonda Louise Cheek

Rhonda Louise Cheek, age 56, passed away on October 21, 2025 after a courageous battle with ovarian cancer.

Rhonda was born in Peoria, Illinois on February 16, 1969 to birth parents James and Emma Bush. She had five siblings. In 1980 she was adopted by Denise Cheek and began her life in northern Illinois. She graduated from Mt. Morris High School in 1988. She moved to Rockford and became a stocker at Walmart for 18 years. Her lifelong medical issues with Charcot-Marie-Tooth (CMT) disease caused an early disability retirement. In retirement she turned to jewelry making and acrylic painting. She loved spending time at the library researching her two favorite topics- cats and family ancestry.

Rhonda is survived by her mother and her beloved cat, Mehitabel. Other family include Deb Cheek, Ed and Becky Cheek, Belinda Cheek, Marilyn Mason, and cousins Heather Cheek, Ethan (Tara Olsen) and Liam Cheek. Rhonda was predeceased by her beloved Grandparents Roger and Lorraine Cheek.

The family is planning a private inurnment in the spring at Better Place Forests- Rock River. There will be a Celebration of Life for family and friends later this fall.

The family wishes to offer special thanks to many loving caregivers at Allure of Pinecrest, OSF Cancer Institute, and Illinois Cancer Care.
