Leaf River, IL - Phyllis Lucille Schelling, 93, died September 20, 2010 at the Ogle County Hospice Serenity Home in Oregon, IL. She was born on January 24, 1917 in Leaf River Township, IL., to Charles and Kathryn (Croft) Thomas. She graduated from Leaf River High School, class of 1933. She married Ralph E. Schelling on August 16, 1936. He preceded her in death on March 19, 1999. She lived the majority of her life in the Leaf River, IL. area. She was an active member of the United Methodist Church, Leaf River, IL., and the United Methodist Women. She was an organist for the church for more than 50 years, and a volunteer for the American Cancer Society. She is survived by her two sons: Roger (Patty) Schelling of Alta Loma, CA; Randy (Cis) Schelling of Kenosha, WI. One daughter: Marilyn (Dennis) Skoneczka of Springfield, VA. Ten Grandchildren: Diana (Charles) Neiheisel of Holts Summit, MO., Laura (Keith) Soper of Danvers, Mass., Elana Schelling-Tufte of Rockford, IL., Melissa (Dave) Eriksen of Rancho Cucamonga, Ca., John Schelling of Lawrenceburg, KY., Douglas (Alice) Schelling of Nashville, TN., Jeremy Skoneczka of Tucson, AZ., Jeffrey Skoneczka of Champaign, IL., J.T. Schelling of Kenosha, WI., and Marideth Schelling of Kenosha, WI. Nine Great-Grandchildren: Jacob Soper and Amelia Soper of Danvers, Mass., Kevin Neiheisel of Holts Summit, MO., Wyatt Tufte and Cody Tufte of Rockford, IL., Madelyn Eriksen of Rancho Cucamonga, CA., Michael Schelling of Lawrenceburg, KY., Wesley Schelling and Megan Schelling of Nashville, TN. Predeceased by parents, husband, Ralph; 1 son, Gerald Schelling, and 1 brother Harold Thomas. Services will be held on Saturday, September 25, 2010 at 11:00 A.M. in the Leaf River United Methodist Church, Leaf River, IL. with The Rev. Kent Svendsen officiating. Burial at Lightsville Cemetery, Lightsville, IL. Visitation will be Friday, September 24, 2010 from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. in Finch Funeral Home, 405 East Hitt Street, Mt. Morris, IL.
