Patricia C Martin

Mt. Morris, IL, Patricia C. Martin, age 79, died Friday June 30, 2017 in Swedish American Hospital, Rockford, IL. Patricia was born on October 29, 1937 in Chicago, IL the daughter of Roland & Ruth (Shaughnessy) Claflin. She graduated from Maine Township High School as one of six class Valedictorians. She received her BA & BS from University of Illinois and she achieved her Masters in Math from the University of Illinois. Patricia married Roger E. Martin on December 27, 1958 in Park Ridge, IL. She taught freshman math at the University of Illinois. When she retired from the University, she studied graphic design and later worked for a publishing company doing book design and editing. She left that position in 1997 to accompany her husband on her favorite vacation- canoeing in the Quetico in Canada. Patricia is survived by her husband: Roger Martin, Mt. Morris, IL; children: Shaun (Thomas) Murphy, St. Charles, IL and Chad (Audra) Martin, Urbana, IL; grandchildren: Erin Murphy, Washington D.C., Kathleen Murphy, Urbana, IL, and Drew Martin, Urbana, IL; great grandchild: Jakob Martin, Urbana, IL; sisters: Barbara Kuxhausen, Casper, WY and Debora (James) Marlowe, Genoa, OH. Patricia is preceded in death by her parents. Cremation rites have been accorded with Finch Funeral Home, 405 East Hitt, Mt. Morris, IL. Memorial services will be held at a later date.
