Opal K Shook

Mt. Morris, IL; Opal K. Shook, age 90, died Saturday August 4, 2012 in Pinecrest Manor Nursing. Opal was born May 28, 1922 the daughter of Roy J & Helen (Roos) Ballard. Opal was a graduate of Mt. Morris High School class of 1940. She married John Shook in Mt. Morris, IL in 1948, he preceded her death in November 1966. She worked for Kable News and Kable Printing Company. She also waitressed at various restaurants and clubs. She enjoyed family picnics in the parks with children and grandchildren, sitting on the front porch, tending to her flowers. Opal was a member of the Mt. Morris Church of The Brethren and the Mt. Morris Moose Lodge. Opal is survived by her Daughters: Patsy (Rich) Voss, Mt. Morris, IL and Suzie (Glen) Gale, Freeport, IL; Son: Bob (Pam) Shook, Granger, IN; Step-Son: Larry (Shirley) Shook, Nashville, TN. Grandchildren: Connie, Bob, Megan, Toni, Amy, Kerri Jo, Nikki, Nicole, Christopher, Jennifer. Great-Grandchildren: 22, Great-Great Grandchildren: 4; Special Cousin Chuck Ballard, Dixon, IL and several other cousins. Opal is preceded in death by her Husband, Parents, 3 Brothers: Andy, Bill, and Bob; Sister: Pauline. Funeral Service will be Wednesday August 8, 2012 at 2:00 P.M. in The Mt. Morris Church of The Brethren, Mt. Morris, IL with Rev. Ginny Haney officiating. Burial will be in Plainview Cemetery, Mt. Morris, IL. Visitation will be Wednesday August 8, 2012 from 1:00 P.M. to 2:00 P.M. in the Mt. Morris Church of The Brethern. Memorials to be established. Special thanks to Herman & Gloria Hartel.
