Mt. Morris, IL - Nancy L Smith, 66, of Mt. Morris passed away Sunday, December 18, 2011 at home surrounded by her family. Born July 13, 1945 in Dixon, IL the daughter of Howard and Dorothy (Condon) Kinton. Graduated from East Aurora High School in 1963. Earned a BA in History from NIU in 1967 and a Masters of Library Science from University of Illinois in 1968. Married Paul Smith on July 19, 1969 in Aurora, IL. She worked as a librarian at the Prairie Area Library System, was a past director of the Mt. Morris Public Library and she also worked at the Dixon Correctional Center. She retired on June 30, 2010. Member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, the American Library Association, Illinois Library Association, Mt. Morris Library Foundation, Mt. Morris Planning Committee, St. Mary's Education Commission. She was a also a volunteer in the Mt. Morris Schools. Survived by her husband Paul Smith of Mt Morris, Sons: Peter (Julie) Smith of Rockford, Brian (Paula) Smith of Belvidere, Kevin (Lynn) Smith of Louisville, KY and Robert (Erin) Smith of Hanover Park. 7 grandchildren: Jessica, Stephen, Maria, Sarah, Ezra, Helena and Kyla. Brother Jack (Evelyn) Kinton of North Aurora. Predeceased by her parents. Funeral Mass at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Oregon on Thursday, December 22, 2011 at 11:00 am. Visitation will be on Wednesday, December 21, 2011 from 6:00 pm to 8:00pm at Finch Funeral Home 405 E Hitt St. Mt Morris with a rosary service at 7:45pm. There will also be a visitation at the church on Thursday from 10:00 am until service time. Burial at St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery in Oregon. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Ogle County Hospice or Pinecrest Manor Nursing Home.
