Michael F. Hartman

Michael F Hartman (January 7, 1950- July 15, 2024) 74 Years Old

Michael Hartman was born January 7, 1950, and was the oldest son of William L Hartman and Ruth (Butterbaugh) Hartman. He graduated from Mt. Morris High School, class of ‘68, and his Mounder pride ran deep. After graduation, he proudly served his country in the US Army from 1969 to 1971 in Vietnam. After returning home from Vietnam he farmed and sold lubricants for Cen-pe-co Oil and later, Schaeffer Oil. He later worked for IDOT performing various jobs like plowing snow and erecting road signs. He married, and was preceded in death by, Susan Campbell, and together they had 7 children that they raised on their farm west of Mt. Morris.  He also raised cattle for many years.

Mike enjoyed working with engines. He went to trade school to become a diesel mechanic.  He loved tractor pulling, drag racing, and Fords. He had all different kinds of tractors over the years. He also liked watching Westerns and wheel of fortune.

Last October Mike remarried Doreen White. Mike and Doreen lived together in Shannon with their dog, Jolene. Mike dearly loved Jolene and she was his special little nurse.

Mike is survived by his wife, Doreen, and his seven children, William Hartman of Colorado Springs, CO, Margaret (David) Swaim of Wiota, IA, Aaron (Emily) Hartman of Lanark, IL, Naomi (Justin) Maynes of Ames, IA, Emily (Michael) Rose of Nevada, IA, Nathan Hartman of Polo, IL, and Hannah (Joshua) Humphrey of Ankey, IA and a plethora of much beloved grandchildren. Mike was proceeded in death by his wife, Susan, parents William and Ruth Hartman, and younger brother Jeffery Hartman.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday July 20, 2024 at 10:30 A.M. in Finch Funeral Home, 405 East Hitt Mt. Morris, IL; with Rev. Larry Jameson officiating.  A family burial will take place in West Branch Cemetery, Polo, IL.  A visitation will be held on Saturday July 20, 2024 from 9:30 A.M. until service time in Finch Funeral Home.
