Merle G. Snodgrass, age 94, of 1996 W. Snodgrass Road, Oregon, IL passed away on Tuesday November 17, 2015 in Franklin Grove Living & Rehabilitation Center. Merle spent his life as a farmer and was an active community member. Merle was born April 17, 1921 in Rockvale Township, Ogle County, IL, the son of Thomas A. & Florence (Griswold) Snodgrass. He married Anna May Bolthouse on November 7, 1942 in Oregon, IL. He was a member of The Disciples United Methodist Church, Mt. Morris, IL. Merle was a member of the Rockvale Township Board, Ogle County Board, Mt. Morris Fire Board, and the Mt. Morris School Board. He was a Blackhawk Grange member, on the Extension Council, Circle M 4-H Leader, member of the ASCS Committee, member of the Ogle County Livestock Association, Chairman of the Ogle County Farm Visit Day, and a life long Ogle County Farm Bureau member. He was a faithful supporter of the Ogle County Fair and which he attended for 94 years. Merle was an avid baseball fan playing the sport until the age of 72. He was a life long Cubs fan. Merle is survived by 2 sons: Thomas (Myrna) Snodgrass, Mt. Morris, IL and Marvin (Friend Bill Machuga), Ludlow, KY; Grandson: Ronald (Girlfriend Kristi Swanson of Shannon, IL) Snodgrass, Oregon, IL; Nephew: Duane (Valdene) Snodgrass, Byron, IL; and a Special Sister in Law: Jean Bolthouse. Merle is preceded in death by his parents; Wife: Anna May; Brother: Ralph Snodgrass; 2 Sisters: Myrtice McKee and Ruth Straley. Funeral service will be Monday November 23, 2015 at 11:00 A.M. in Disciples United Methodist Church, Mt. Morris, IL with Rev. Dwight Stewart officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery, Mt. Morris, IL. Visitation will be Sunday November 22, 2015 from 1:00 P.M. until 3:00 P.M. in Finch Funeral Home, 405 East Hitt, Mt. Morris, IL. In lieu of flowers memorials to The Ogle County Fair.
