Max W Betz

Leaf River, IL, Max W. Betz, age 94, died August 12, 2016 in his home. Max was born April 20, 1922 in rural Leaf River the son of William & Cora (Kendal) Betz, and lived most of his life in or near Leaf River, IL. Max joined the US Army and he served in the 108 Evacuation Medical Hospital Unit during WWII. He was a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 8739 and American Legion 145. Max was an honorary life member of the Graphic Communications International Union. Max is survived by his wife of 65 years: Dora (Comstock) Betz; Daughter: Shirley (Shoaib) Zaman; grandchildren: Stefan Zaman and Julie (Larry) Brazeau; great grandchildren: Dalia and Jordan Brazeau. Max is preceded in death by his parents; brother: Lyle Betz; and sisters: Edna Green and Erda Betz. Graveside services will be held on August 19, 2016 at 10:30 A.M. in Lightsville Cemetery, Lightsville, IL with Chaplin John Tuttle of the Oregon VFW officiating. Finch Funeral Home, 405 East Hitt, Mt. Morris, IL is assisting the family.
