Mt. Morris, IL, Mary E. Thompson, age 71, died Thursday August 25, 2016 in Rockford Memorial Hospital, Rockford, IL. Mary was born on October 10, 1944 in Lee Center, IL the daughter of John @ Mary (Derr) Thompson. Mary worked for Kable News Company, Mt. Morris, IL retiring in 2010. Mary was a unique combination of sweet and sour, she was selfless, prideful, she loved to cook, can food, and making Christmas cookies, and when she was able, she gardened. Mary is survived by her Son: Verne E. "Chip" (Lisa McCaw) Thompson, Freeport, IL; Daughter: Alicia (Jared) Moats, Oregon, IL; granddaughter: Payton Thompson, Freeport, IL; 4 brothers: John (Marion) Thompson, Robert (Kathy) Thompson, Floyd Drumheller; and Don (Cindy) Drumheller; sister: Ann (Gene) Patterson; and many nieces and nephews. Mary is preceded in death by her parents, brothers: Charles and Bill Thompson. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday August 31, 2016 at 7:00 P.M. in Finch Funeral Home, 405 East Hitt, Mt. Morris, IL, with Rev. Josh Ehrler officiating. A visitation will be held on Wednesday August 31, 2106 from 6:00 until service time in Finch Funeral Home. A private family burial of cremains will be held on a later date. In lieu of flowers memorials to American Kidney Association.
