Mary A Greenawalt

Mt. Morris, IL, Mary Ann Greenawalt, age 93, died Saturday April 2, 2016 in Mt. Morris, IL. Mary was born May 13, 1922 in Elgin, IL, the daughter of Fred P. & Cora (Bates) Greenawalt. Mary received her BA from Manchester University and then received her Master's Degree from University of Denver. She was a Teacher and a Librarian in Public Schools and she also was head of children services at Gail Borden Public Library in Elgin, IL retiring in 1987. Mary was a member of the Highland Avenue Church of The Brethren, Elgin, IL, Mt. Morris Church of The Brethren, American Library Association, Mt. Morris Library Foundation, World Wildlife Federation, National Geographic Society, Smithsonian Institute, and the Sierra Club. Mary is survived by many nieces and nephews. Mary is preceded in death by her Parents; Brother: Cedric Greenawalt; Sisters: Dorothy Helen Rossiter and Ruth A Hickey. Cremation rites have been accorded with Finch Funeral Home, Mt. Morris, IL. Burial of cremains will be Saturday April 9, 2016 at 11:00 A.M. in Bluff City Cemetery, Elgin, IL. Memorials to Good Sam Fund, Pinecrest Manor.
