Marvin S "Marv" Olson Jr

Mt. Morris, IL, Marvin "Marv" S. Olson Jr., age 80, passed away Saturday, September 14, 2019 in Serenity Hospice & Home surrounded by his family. Marv was born January 18, 1939 in Oregon, IL the son of Marvin S. & Clarice (Drummond) Olson Sr. Marv married Carolyn Beck on April 14, 1973 in Mt. Morris, IL. He served in the US Army. Marv worked at E.D. Etnyre for 46 years retiring in 2001. Marv was the most wonderful husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, and family man. He was a Moose member since 1973, serving in many functions and he held many positions in the Moose. He was an avid Bears and Cubs fan, and he was an armchair coach during games. Marv loved to golf, but most of all he was a very loyal friend and he always had a smile for you. After his retirement Marv and Carolyn moved to Texas for 9 years, until he wanted to spend as much time with his family as he possibly could spend returning to Illinois in 2017. Marv is survived by his wife: Carolyn Olson, Mt. Morris, IL; daughters: Connie (Michael) Miller, Mt. Morris, IL, Kimberly (Tim) Carr, Trumbull, CT, Linda (Chadd) Eisele, Byron, IL, Kristine (Chris) Halverson, Oregon, IL, Donna (Paul) Cavanaugh, Polo, IL, Laurie (Dan Munroe) Mon, Dixon, IL; 17 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; sisters: Carol Kump, Barbara (Paul) Hills; brother: Elmer (Joanne) Olson; and several nieces and nephews. Marv is preceded in death by his parents and brother: LeRoy Olson. Memorial visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 18, 2019 from 3:00 P.M. to 5:00 P.M. in Finch Funeral Home, 405 East Hitt, Mt. Morris, IL. Moose service will be held on Wednesday September 18, 2019 following the visitation in Finch Funeral Home. There will be a celebration with family and friends in the Mt. Morris Moose Lodge following the Moose service, so if friends are unable to make the visitation, the family will be available at the Moose. Memorials Serenity Hospice & Home and/or Mt.
