Mt. Morris, IL; Marvin W. Leopold Sr., age 76, died May 2, 2012 in Pinecrest Manor Nursing Home, Mt. Morris, IL. Marv was born May 13, 1935 the son of Walter & Margaret (Widmer) Leopold. Marv graduated from Mt. Morris High School class of 1953. He married Patricia L. DeSonia on December 23, 1955 in Belvidere, IL. Marv served in the US Air Force from 1955-1959. He toured with Air Force "Tops in Blue' 57"; after winning a contest in Western Music. He toured with 26 top performances from that contest, touring from July 25, 1957 to March 4, 1958; performing 200 shows in 220 days at 150 locations. Marv was a member of the Mt. Morris Moose Lodge #1551, Marv earned the Fellowship Degree and a Pilgrim Degree. He was a member of the Masons. Marv loved garage sales, collecting clocks (Loved coo-coo clocks), searching for antiques, loved to sing & play base fiddle with country bands, he loved to camp and hunt for the famous morel mushroom. He also loved Halloween, which he collected many various masks and costumes. Marv was a big fan of the Chicago Bears and the Chicago Cubs. Marv was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Mt. Morris, IL. Marv is survived by wife: Patricia Leopold, Mt. Morris, IL; Sons: Marvin (Alice) Leopold Jr., Roscoe, IL and Jeffrey (Dana) Leopold, Marion, NC; Daughters: Brenda (Dave) Perrone, Roscoe, IL and Cynthia (Rob) Bergin, Suwanee, GA. Grandchildren: Jacob, Seth, and Abby Leopold, Marion, NC; Ryan (Siara) Jacobs and Cory Jacobs, Rockford, IL; Brent, Breanna, and Alana Bergin, Suwanee, GA; Great Grandchild: Ashton Jacobs, Rockford, IL; Brother in Law: Ken McDonough, Naples, FL. 3 Nieces: Cheryl (Steve) Antonneli, Theresa (Brad) Beebe, and Linda (Phil) Bond. He is preceded in death by Parents, Sister: Doris Ann McDonough. Funeral Services will be Monday May 7, 2012 at 10:30 A.M. in Trinity Lutheran Church, Mt. Morris, IL with Rev. Marilyn Hanson officiating. Burial in Plainview Cemetery, Mt. Morris, IL. Visitation will be Sunday May 6, 2012 from 5: 00 to 7:00 P.M. in Finch Funeral Home, 405 East Hitt, Mt. Morris, IL. Memorials to Trinity Lutheran Church and/or Pinecrest Manor Nursing Home.
