Mt. Morris, IL - Marjorie Myrtle Cowan, age 88, died October 4, 2010 in Pinecrest Manor Nursing Home. Marjorie was born September 10, 1922 in Chariton, Iowa, the daughter of Joseph Harley & Maggie (Grant) Barker. she graduated from Chariton High School Class of 1941. Marjorie married Richard Thomas Cowan in Des Moines, Iowa on May 19, 1945. He preceded her in death August 19, 1993. She worked in the bindery department, Kable Printing Company 10 years. Marjorie enjoyed golfing and bird watching. She lived in the Mt. Morris and Leaf River Area for 51 years. She is survived by 2 sons: James (Gwen) Cowan, Leaf River, IL and Thomas (Jody) Cowan, Mounds View, MN. 2 Daughters: Kathryn Long, Thomasville, NC and Deborah (Roger) Branscomb, Leaf River, IL. 10 Grandchildren, 15 Great- Grandchildren, 7 Great Great- Grandchildren. 1 Brother: John Barker, Granite City, CA. 3 sisters: Beverly (Elmo) Combruzzi, Joliet, IL; Ethel Steele, Des Moines, IA, and Edna, St. Louis, MO. She is Preceded in Death by, Parents; Husband, Richard; Daughter Patricia Cowan; 3 Brother: Jim, Bernard, and Charles; 1 Sister, Ardith. Memorial service will be October 8, 2010 at 11:00 A.M. in Lightsville Cemetery, Lightsville, IL with Rev. Randy Newton officiating. Burial Lightsville Cemetery, Lightsville, IL.
