Linda Kay Bechtold

Linda Kay Bechtold, 76, of Mt. Morris, Illinois, went to be with her Lord on Sunday, August 18, 2024. She was born on April 4, 1948, in Oregon, IL to Kenneth and Mildred (Pettinger) Messer. She married Clarence E. Bechtold at Mt. Morris EFC on September 17, 1967. She loved the Lord; her personal Savior, was an avid reader, and as a devoted wife and mother, she loved to spend quality time with her family and grandchildren. She had a heart for children and served them as Mother, Grandmother “Grammie”, Sunday School teacher, Awana leader/director, and as a Paraprofessional employed by the Ogle County Co-op. Linda is survived by her devoted husband Clarence; her sons, Ken (Michelle) of Freeport, IL, and Daniel (Rebecca) of Merritt Island, FL; 7 grandchildren Jacob, Nicole, Solomon “Kwame”, and Vivian of Freeport, IL, and Hope, Faith, and Nora of Merritt Island, FL; and one great-grandson, Jace of Freeport, IL; a Brother-in-law Robert of Rockford and sisters-in-law; Betty of Stillman Valley, SanDee of Rockford, and Thelma of Mt. Morris; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and 9 brothers, Gene, Bill, Arnie, Glenn, Charles, Darrell, Jim, Doug, and Tom. Memorial services will be held on August 31, 2024 at 11:00 A.M. in the Mt. Morris Evangelical Free Church, with Rev. Bruce McKenna officiating.  Burial will be held in Oakwood Cemetery, Mt. Morris, IL. Visitation will be held on August 31, 2024 from 10:00 A.M. until service time in the church.
