Lester A Taylor

It is with profound sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Lester Allen Taylor, who departed on August 27, 2026, at the age of 69. Born on March 6, 1957, in Dixon, Illinois, Lester was the cherished son of Emma Lois Bower Taylor and Arvil Taylor.

Lester cultivated a life rich in quiet dignity, marked by a steady resolve and a profound appreciation for the unassuming beauty of daily existence. He possessed a humble spirit, never seeking recognition or accolades, finding contentment and purpose in his contributions rather than in titles.

His professional life was characterized by a deep pride in his craft. Lester dedicated many years as a skilled mechanic, serving the communities of Polo and Oregon through his work at Northwest Equipment. His hands-on expertise extended to his personal passions, where he particularly enjoyed working on tractors. Beyond his mechanical pursuits, Lester found joy in community, often frequenting Catalina’s to connect with friends and, most importantly, to share cherished moments with his beloved daughter.

Though a man of few words, Lester's insights and gentle wit were deeply cherished by those who knew him, always offering wisdom worth savoring. When he spoke, his thoughtful observations and subtle humor were a welcome presence.

Lester's memory will be forever treasured by his loving daughter, Stacey Ann Scheffler, and her husband, Bryan Scheffler. He is also survived by his dear sister, Evelyn Knight, his nieces, Lisa Knight Hatley (Chris Sinn), Kim Knight Kempfers (Kenny Kempfers), nephew Shawn Knight, and several great nieces and nephews. The family also wishes to acknowledge his extraordinary caregiver and devoted friend, Virginia Gouker, whose companionship brought him immense comfort.

Lester was preceded in death by his beloved parents, Emma Lois Bower Taylor and Arvil Taylor, two brothers, one niece, and one great nephew. He now joins them, and many others, at heaven’s gates. His daughter, Stacey, carries his memory with profound love and the heartfelt promise, "I will meet with you again, Dad."

Lester being a simple man never wanting a fuss he didn’t want formal service but instead, we will do a celebration of his life at a later time that will be scheduled and shared . Thank you to serenity and all the wonderful people that helped with my Dad.
