Laverne E Davis

Mt. Morris, IL, Laverne E. Davis, age 89, passed away peacefully in Serenity Hospice & Home, Oregon, IL. Laverne was born on June 2, 1937 in Dewey, IL, the daughter of Elmer & Mamie (Lane) Wagner. She graduated from Cornell High School in Cornell, IL and then she received her BS from Illinois State University with a degree in Teaching.

Laverne married Wayne Bradley Davis on March 23, 1962 in Mt. Carroll, IL and he preceded in death on June 7, 2022.

Laverne taught school in Mendota school district, Mt. Carroll school district where she met Brad, and she also taught in the Mt. Morris School District. She loved to sew, crochet, make rugs, and later she loved her walks with her son Doug. She was a member of the Mt. Morris Evangelical Free Church, and she played piano in church.

Laverne is survived by her sons: Doug Davis, Mt. Morris, IL and Dan (Lora) Davis, Marietta, GA; grandchildren: Brandon, Danielle, Aubrey, Oliver, and Madelyn: 3 great grandchildren.

Laverne is preceded in death by her parents; husband: Brad; son: David; daughter: DeAnna; and 2 sisters: Phyllis and Joyce.

Funeral service will be held on Friday October 9, 2026 at 11:00 A.M. in the Mt. Morris Evangelical Free Church with Pastor Bruce McKanna officiating. Burial wil be held in Plainview Cemetery, Mt. Morris, IL. A visitation will be held on October 9, 2026 from 10:00 A.M. until service time in the Evangelical Free Church. There will be a lucheon following the services in the Evangelical Free Church.

In lieu of flowers, a contribution for a memorial to the EFCMM in memory of Laverne Davis would be greatly appreciated.
