Mt. Morris, IL, Larry E. Schier, age 71, passed away peacefully in his home in Mt. Morris, IL on Saturday March 28, 2015, surrounded by his family. Larry was born August 16, 1943 in Oregon, IL the son of Harold & Esther (Friday) Schier. Larry attended Pine Creek Elementary and Mt. Morris High School. Larry married his soul mate of over 30 years, Darcie Schelling on January 26, 2014 on the Farm in Mt. Morris, IL. His passion in life was his trucking business as the owner/operator of Schier Trucking since 1956. He took over his family farm in 1972, and he had a special love for his bear "Sissy" and the many animals that he raised on his farm. Larry was involved in and contributed in hauling cattle for the 4-H Circle M in Mt. Morris and the many other 4-H kids throughout Ogle County. He was a seed corn dealer for Pioneer, member of the farm bureau for many years, and he loved his Minneapolis-Moline tractors. Larry was well known and respected as a mentor and role model for many in the community over the years. Larry is survived by his wife: Darcie Schier, Mt. Morris, IL; Mother: Esther Schier, Mt. Morris, IL; Sons: Dwayne Schier, Milledgeville, IL; Eric (Emily) Schier, Mt. Morris, IL; Daughters: Lori (Norman) Steele, Mt. Morris, IL; Cindy Rowland, Byron, IL; and Amber (Ray) Kosick, Mt. Morris, IL. 3 Grandsons: Dustin (Kimberly) Schier, Mt. Morris, IL; Tyler Rowland, Byron, IL; and Evan "Hector" Kosick, Mt. Morris, IL. 4 Granddaughters: Danielle Schier, Freeport, IL; Jozi (Christopher) Wheat, Norfolk, VA; Alana Rowland, Byron, IL; and Ellie Schier, Mt. Morris, IL and Several Great-Grandchildren. Sister: Joyce (Dennis) Berg, Dixon, IL. Many nieces and nephews. Larry is preceded in death by his Father. Funeral service will be Thursday April 2, 2015 at 10:30 A.M. in Finch Funeral Home, 405 East Hitt, Mt. Morris, IL with Rev Josh Ehrler officiating. Burial will be in Plainview Cemetery, Mt. Morris, IL. Visitation will be Wednesday April 1, 2015 from 4:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. in Finch Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers memorials to be determined. Larry requested a special recognition for his trucking Buddy "Hector." Hector would tell you his "Papa" taught him how to drive a semi and a tractor and everything he knows about the trucking business. Larry's message to "Hector" is to "Keep on Truckin!"
