Mt. Morris, IL, Larry D. "Frenchy" French, age 79, originally from DeKalb, IL, passed away on Friday November 9, 2018 in The Serenity Hospice and Home, Oregon, IL. Larry was born on August 15, 1939 in DeKalb, IL the son of James Irvin & Vivian Melvina (Holmes) French. He attended DeKalb High School. Larry married Joy Fredrick on February 1, 1969 in Malta, IL. Larry was a construction worker for the Labor Local 109 retiring in 1995. He a member of the DeKalb and Mt. Morris Moose Lodges, and the Labors Local 109. Larry loved sports, especially baseball and his favorite team, the Chicago Cubs; which he was named after one of the Cubs starting pitchers of 1939. He played ball most of his life including fast pitch softball for Don's service station in Kingston, IL. He also enjoyed coaching DeKalb youth baseball. Larry's greatest passion was flea marketing and antiquing with his wife and best friend of 53 years, Joy. Larry is survived by his wife: Joy French, Mt. Morris, IL; sons: Jason French, Bend, OR, Vincent (Michele) Walker, Dekalb, IL; Daughter: Kelly (Steve) Boettger, Kirkland, IL; 3 grandchildren: Kyle (Hannah) Cooper, Bethany (Glenn) Benjamin, and Natalie (Justin) Bend; 6 great grandchildren: Everett & Ethan Benjamin, Marli Cooper & Nic Delgado, and Jack & Margaret Bend. Larry is preceded in death by his parents; 2 sister; and 1 brother. In keeping with Larry's wish, there will be no service and cremation rites have been accorded with Finch Funeral, 405 East Hitt, Mt. Morris, IL. Interment will be at a later date.
