It is with deep love and profound sadness that we announce the passing of Kim I. Duncan, who left us suddenly on Wednesday October 8th, 2025 at the age of 68.
Kim was born on September 14th, 1957 in Rockford, IL. The daughter of John and Marion Thompson of Mt. Morris, IL. She attended Mt. Morris schools and graduated class of 1975. She married and began her career at McGregor’s Magazine Agency, where she met life long friends. She began the most cherished job of her life as a mother with the birth of her daughter Kristin in 1985 and son Kraig in 1989. She held various other positions at Kable News, Woods Equipment, and KSB Hospital throughout her career. She retired in 2016 to become the caregiver for her granddaughter Kirin. She was a member of Disciples United Methodist Church.
Kim lived a life of kindness and love, truly a one-of-a-kind. She found joy in life’s simple moments, family dinners on Sunday, visiting her parent’s cabin, nature, keeping up with friends, baking, matching outfits, decorating her house and evenings with her fiancé Tim. She enjoyed daily walks around town in which she chatted with everyone she passed by, reading her daily devotional, attending church, and visits with her grandchildren. She was known for her baked sweets that she shared at family gatherings and with friends. Her gentle spirit, warm hugs, and ability to see the good in all things will forever be remembered by all who knew her.
