June A Hefferan

June A. Hefferan, nee Connolly born 1927 in Chicago, Illinois to Hedwig Lorbecki and Vincent Connolly passed away on April 1, 2022.  She married the love of her life, Steve Mueller, in 1945 and had two children, a daughter,        Wendy Mertes (Drake) and son, L. Stephen Mueller (Trudy).  After Steve passed away in 1974, she enjoyed 30 years of marriage with Cedric Hefferan.  With him, she had the opportunity to live in Tallahassee, Florida and Franklin, North Carolina.  After Cedric passed away in 2010 she lived with her sister, Chery Smoot, until the time she moved back to Illinois in 2021.

In addition to her son, daughter, and sister, she leaves behind two grandchildren, Tyler Mertes (Cory) and Morgan Branson (Mark) and six great grandchildren: Blaike, Melvin, Aida, Vaughn, Liv, and Nolan.  She always bragged that she was responsible for starting the whole family!

She also leaves behind her stepchildren:  Steven Hefferan (Krystal), Brian Hefferan  (Patty), Kevin Hefferan and their children, Mary, Tracy, Kevin, Shannon, Quinn, and Kate.

Mom loved bridge, mahjong, solitaire, crossword puzzles, and jigsaw puzzles!  She also loved her manhattans, martinis and wine!  She was a party girl to the end and was a loyal and loving friend to many.  She was a crafter, a golfer, and a gardener and enjoyed life to the fullest.  She was also never without a dog:  Penny, Jinx, GiGi, Misty, Tushu, Scampi, Annie, and Charlie.  Her family will miss her and her “feisty” personality.
