Judy L Wollstadt

November 18, 1941 — August 14, 2018

Rockford, IL, Judy L. Wollstadt, age 76, passed away peacefully on Tuesday August 14, 2018 in Pinecrest Manor Nursing Home, Mt. Morris, IL., following a four-year battle with Alzheimer's disease. Judy was born on November 18, 1941 in Cleveland, OH, the daughter of George and Alah (Blake) Lang. She graduated from the College of Wooster in 1963. She married Loyd Wollstadt on June 6, 1964 in Lexington, OH. They moved to Rockford, IL in 1973. Judy taught English at the high school level in the 1960's, but after her first daughter, Lynn, was born, she devoted herself to raising her children. She took her job of parenting Lynn, David, and Laura very seriously, over the years reading countless stories, watching many band concerts and soccer games, supervising chores, and giving plenty of lectures as well as hugs. Judy loved reading, gardening, and her dogs. She could often be found working in her large, beautiful yard or training and showing golden retrievers in agility, obedience, and tracking trials. For more than 20 years she had been an active member of Forrest City Dog Training Club, Inc. She also loved spending time with her grandchildren. Judy will be missed by her husband of 54 years, Dr. Loyd Wollstadt of Rockford, IL; her children, Lynn Wollstadt and her husband Roger (Wheaton, IL), David Wollstadt and his wife Jennifer (Vacaville, CA), and Laura Wollstadt Patterson and her husband Mike (Erie, CO); her six grandchildren: Ian and Paul Gillespie, Lang and Landon Wollstadt, and Elisa and Tory Patterson; and her two sisters, Sandi Heffelfinger and Deb Kennedy. She is preceded in death by her parents. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, September 1, 2018 at 11:00 A.M. in Court Street United Methodist Church, Rockford, IL with the Rev. Calvin Culpepper officiating, following a visitation at 10 am. Cremation rites have been accorded with Finch Funeral Home, 405 East Hitt, Mt. Morris, IL. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate memorials to the Good Samaritan Fund (http://www.pinecrestcommunity.org/Give-to-Us/Good-Samaritan-Fund), Pinecrest Manor (http://www.pinecrestcommunity.org/Give-to-Us/Donate-on-Behalf-of-a-Loved-One), and/or Alzheimer's disease research (https://www.alz.org/, https://www.alzinfo.org/).
