Obituary for Judith Irene Huntoon

It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Judy Huntoon,  a beautiful and caring woman, on August 24th, 2024 at the age of 85. She was a devoted mother, a loving sister, a cherished grandmother, and a beloved great-grandmother.

Born on February 12, 1939,  Judy lived a life full of love, travel, compassion, and dedication to her family. She was the proud mother of four children, who were the center of her world. Her nurturing spirit extended beyond her immediate family, as she was also a wonderful sister, always there with a listening ear and a kind word.

Judy had a zest for life that was evident in her many passions. She loved fishing, finding peace and joy by the water. Dancing was another of her great loves, and she could often be found moving to the rhythm of her favorite tunes. Her sweet tooth was legendary, with chocolate being her ultimate indulgence. She was also an avid fan of the Kansas City Chiefs, cheering them on with unwavering enthusiasm.

As a grandmother to nine grandchildren, Judy was a source of endless joy and wisdom. She delighted in their achievements and was always ready with a warm hug and a smile. Her legacy of love continued with her eight great-grandchildren, who brought her immense happiness and pride.

Judy will be remembered for her unwavering kindness, her gentle nature, and her ability to make everyone feel special. Her family and friends will forever cherish the memories of her laughter, her stories, and her unconditional love.

She leaves behind a legacy of love and compassion that will continue to inspire all who knew her.      Rest in peace, dear Judy. You will be deeply missed and forever in our hearts.

Words from Judy’s Family:

“She had the most contagious laugh. And when she was  laughing, everything seemed right in the world.”  ~ Audrey Janes

“Grandma was such a big part of my life.  I have so many great memories! We went on wonderful trips like to Disney, I remember riding seven dwarfs with her and just laughing with her! And having fun on cruises! Camping was such a fun time in the summer with tubing! She taught me how to make pies. We had so many Christmas mornings together and I’ll always remember playing Guesstures and her classic ‘waving her hand’ for us to figure out what she acted out. I remember dancing with her and playing canasta, she was competitive and so fun to play with. Grandma is an amazing, funny person who I love being with.” ~ Kaela Howell

“Grandma was a perfect example of unconditional love for one’s family. She always knew how to approach difficult situations in order to help others.” ~ Grant Chowins

“Grandma, I love you so much. I have such good memories with you as a child. You were always such a joy to be around. You were so competitive and loved playing with us and cheating in ping pong. You are the best grandma. I am so lucky that you are my grandma. I love you so much.”             ~ Kyle Davis

My Mom —

Strong as a lion

Wise as an owl,

Gentle as a lamb,

Graceful as a hummingbird,

Beautiful as a daisy,

Family devoted,

Loved unconditionally,

Best friend & companion,

Nosey as Stella,

Loved by everyone she met.

I will miss you dearly. Give Laura a hug for me! Love you mom!  ~ Mary Pendleton

“Judy knew how to live life and get the most out of it. From her infectious laugh and adventurous travel to her love for fishing. Judy did it her own wonderful way. Judy was a mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, loved family member, and good friend. No matter how you knew her, she left us all better for being part of her journey.”  ~ Matthew Clabaugh

“I knew from a very young age that I was very fortunate to have a very special person as my Mom. Life is a lot easier when you have a Mom that truly loves you and will do anything for you. As I grew older, I was amazed at how easily she made friends and that everyone loved to be around her. She always put me and my sisters first. She supported us in everything that we loved and was our best friend when we had trouble making friends. I along with everyone whoever met my mom is truly blessed. God is taking care of her now. Love you Mom!!!”    ~ Mark Davis

“Grandma was a vibrant force. I could always count on her to make me laugh and lighten up and room. I’ll cherish the many adventures we had together water tubing, riding rollercoasters, and cruising around the Caribbean. She was a dancer and a comedian and a damn good canasta partner.”   ~ Abby Clabaugh

It’s hard for me to put into words what my mom meant to me as it could never be enough. She was not only my mom but my friend. She always gave those things only a mother can give. While my heart is broken, it is filled with loving memories of the times we shared. I know that she is still by my side, guiding me, protecting me and loving me. I will miss her dearly and take comfort in knowing she is at peace and that we will be united again.” ~Kimberly Clabaugh

I loved being Judy’s daughter-in-law! God blessed me with her kindness and friendship!”            ~Leslie Davis

“Grandma you were a huge part of my life. Every big and small event in my life, you were there. Cheering me on in the stands at my games, helping me put on some rouge,  making my heart feel warm every time you called me ‘babes’, riding the   Aerosmith rollercoaster and going upside down without a flinch!  You accepted me for who I am, listened to everything I shared, and comforted me knowing always the right thing to say. You were so kind and caring, but not afraid to become a bull if needed. You protected us, played with us, loved us. You taught me how to make the best       Thanksgiving dinner, specifically the dressing and gravy. I love you and will miss you always and forever, and find comfort that one day we will hug again. As you always said, Tally-ho.”                         ~Jessica Lee

“Judy, I will always remember you as a firecracker with a gentle soul and a heart of gold. You were always a straight shooter who had great vision and a person with tons of wisdom. You could always be counted on to make me laugh, tell a good joke, and play a good prank once and a while. When a helping hand was needed, you were always there to be of assistance no questions asked. We had a lot of laughs just being us, sometimes silly sometimes stupid. It was a gift that I was able to become part of your family and also your friend. You made a difference in my life and I will truly cherish our time together. Until we meet again, my friend.      I love you...  ~ Carol Halsey

“The thing I remember most about Grandma Judy are spending the many Thanksgivings with her and also her sense of humor and competitiveness. From pouring ice water on my Dad when he was showering to playing ping pong with you and asking “Are you ready?” before she would serve, and if she didn’t get the point she would say “Wait, I wasn’t ready yet!”  ~ Shane Davis

“I met Judy at Mission Bowling Ally. We were put on the same team, probably in 1981. I soon considered her my best friend. I feel we were opposite personalities. Judy was positive, I was negative. We bonded for many years., over 40. I missed her when she moved away. Now I will miss her again. Judy’s friend forever.”   ~ Carol Wells
