Guttenberg, IA - John C. Hollaway, 68, died Friday, July 16, 2010, in Guttenberg Municipal Hospital. John was born Jan. 1, 1942, in Doniphan, Mo., to Henry and Edna (Moore) Hollaway. He married Darlene Grove on May 7, 1966, in Leaf River, Ill. John retired as a machinist in 2004 after 45 years. He lived in Leaf River before retiring to Guttenberg. He served in the U.S. Army. John loved to RV, golf and fish. He was a member of Blackhawk Grange. John is survived by his wife, Darlene Hollaway of Guttenberg; son, Scott (Susan) Hollaway of Guttenberg; daughter, Nickie (Kenneth) Lingbeck of Leaf River; grandchildren, Kaden Lingbeck of Leaf River and Nolan Hollaway of Guttenberg; sisters, Bonnie (Ralph) Hazen of Mount Airy, N.C., and Pat (Charles) Spray of Rockford, Ill. He was preceded in death by parents; and five infant sisters. Service will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, July 21, in Finch Funeral Home, 405 E. Hitt St., Mount Morris, Ill., with the Rev. Randy Snider officiating. Burial in Oakland Cemetery, Freeport. Visitation from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, July 20, in the funeral home. Memorials to American Cancer Society .
