Janet D. Kliebe, 75, long-time resident of Mount Morris, passed away peacefully in her sleep in the early morning of May 1, 2017, at the home of her daughter in California. Jan was born July, 1941, in Rockford to Samuel and Fannie (Alton) Puckett, the middle of seven children. She married Kenneth L. Kliebe, also of Rockford, on August 27, 1959. They were later sealed for time and eternity in Salt Lake City, UT, on December 15, 1981. With her quick wit and humble spirit, Jan made fast but lasting friendships wherever she went. Her delights in her later years were mailing cards and letters, pondering over and sending "I'm thinking of you" gifts, and catching up with family and loved ones by phone. Although she had many health struggles, she remained uncomplaining and optimistic. Jan is preceded in death by her parents; husband Kenneth; three of her siblings: Everett "Sonny" Puckett, Wilma Jean (Lester) Rafferty, and Shirley Abraham; and one grandchild. She is survived by her daughters: Kimmy Stiles, Karin (Richard) Mallard, and Kelly (Adam) Diehl; three siblings: Joan (Bruce) Spencer, Betty (Tom) Miller, and Barbara J. Kirchner; sisters-in-law: Ota Lee Puckett and Jenny Kliebe; seven grandchildren: Michael Scheck, Phillip (Jennifer) Scheck, Pamela (Tom) Mills, Cassidy Rice, Ezriel Mallard, Meridy Mallard, and Kenneth Mallard; and three great-grandchildren: TJ Mills, Briggz Scheck, and Liliauna Scheck, as well as numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews. An open house will be held Friday, May 12, from 6:30 -8:30 pm at Finch Funeral Home located at 405 E. Hitt St, Mount Morris. Funeral services for Jan will be the following day, Saturday, May 13, at 10:00 am at the LDS church building located at 115 S Fox Run Ln, Byron.
