Oregon, IL - James W. Mongan, age 72, died Monday January 10, 2011, in the Serenity Home, Oregon, IL. Jim was born August 6, 1938 the son of William E. and Esther (McCulloch) Mongan. He is a Mt. Morris High School Graduate class of 1956. Jim served in the US Marine Corps. during the Korean Conflict. Jim married Marcia V.(Larson) Holley on December 30, 1982 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Mt. Morris, IL. Jim was an Operating Engineer, Local 150 for over 52 years, retiring in November 1997. Jim is a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Mt. Morris and was a member of Sunset Golf Club as an avid golfer. He was a lifetime Mt. Morris resident: "Once a Mounder, always a Mounder." Jim is survived by his wife, Marcia Mongan of Mt. Morris,IL; Sons: Bob Mongan, Mt. Morris, IL; Joe (Debbie) Mongan, Rockford, IL; Step-Son Jay (Jennifer) Holley, Mt. Morris, IL; Jon (Tina) Holley, Marengo, IL; Step-Daughter: Pamela (Calvin) Van Auken, Largo, FL. Jim had 2 Grandchildren and 7 Step-Grandchildren; 2 Step-Great Grandchildren. Brothers Rich (Connie) Mongan and Steve (Cindy) Mongan of Mt. Morris, IL; Sisters: Rogene (Amos) Taylor, of Mt. Morris, IL; Elvira Powell of Belvidere, IL; Karen Martinez of Oregon, IL; and Cindy (Bob) Willson of Rockford, IL; and sisters in law Kathy Mongan of Chana, IL and Lea Mongan of Oregon, IL. Many Nieces and Nephews. He was preceded in death by Parents; Brothers: Bill and Darrell and a sister: Mary Kay Mongan. Memorial Service will be Saturday January 15, 2011 at 2:00 P.M. in Trinity Lutheran Church, Mt. Morris, IL with Rev. Steven Erickson officiating. Visitation will be Friday January 14, 2011 from 4:00 P.M. till 8:00 P.M. in Finch Funeral Home, 405 East Hitt, Mt. Morris, IL. Jim will remain Jim to all of us forever.
